| Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) is a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) signatory with International Lab Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) & Asia Pacific Lab Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) the relevant international & regional apex bodies. Accreditation is the single most important approach for improving the quality & Competence of Hospitals. In Pakistan, the Hospital services which are provided to the common people are unfortunately of extremely low standard, as compared to other countries in our region. Due to poor quality of health facilities Accreditation of Hospitals will contribute to enhance the health facilities and overall socio-economic activities that will uplift the health condition of a common man. Although health care providers in Pakistan are competent and of international repute but systems can not be dependent on the good intentions of individuals only; checks and balances are compulsory to enhance quality and reduce costs and errors. |

| The PC-1 on "Hospital Accreditation" has been submitted to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad on October 16, 2009 for approval. |
