The Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC) has been established under the administrative control of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Pakistan as the national apex agency to accredit conformity assessment bodies such as laboratories and certification bodies. PNAC was established in 1998 after signing WTO in 1995. The accreditation services of PNAC were launched during the year 2001. PNAC achieved a milestone of Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) with International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and Multi-literal Recognition Arrangement (MLA) with international Accreditation Forum (IAF). PNAC is also board member of international Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF). PNAC is also secured signatory membership of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC). Now Pakistan is included in the list of countries having equivalent status for accreditation of testing & calibration laboratories and certification bodies for QMS , EMS and product certification all over the world.
